The idea of a road trip in California always fascinated me and after having to change my plans and go to NYC last year, I finally managed to materialise one of my dream trips!
Of course, even though we agreed that this trip would not be focused on restaurants and that we wouldn’t try to fit in everything in those 17 days, when we started planning this the boyfriend was unstoppable
In summary, we ended up driving over 6500 km (that’s over 100 hours in a car in case you wonder), visiting 4 states (which makes the title a bit misleading 😉 ), being left speechless by the beauty of 3 canyons and 2 deserts, staying in 9 hotels and trying over 10 well known restaurants. In terms of evidence, we’re talking about over 5 hours of video footage and over 3000 pictures! Obviously, I won’t bore you with all of it, this is an experience that I hope you’ll have the luck of experiencing yourselves sometime. I know that I’m hooked and that I’m already hoping to have the time and money to repeat it soon (although this time, I’ll make sure that I participate more actively when he starts turning it into an endless chase!)
I’ll present this to you as a series of posts, the first of which covers our one night stay in Palm Springs’ very boho Ace hotel , a glimpse of Route 66 (Flagstaff and surrounding areas) and our drive through Grand Canyon’s national park where unfortunately a sudden snow storm (!) made things tricky.
